It causes immense pain to know that our education system does not help us realize our true potential. Rather it obscures it. We have established it in such a way as if there is nothing else in life other than how to survive. We have turned it to serve our survival needs. But I think one can survive also without getting to be educated. The species other than us do not get any education to survive. To be endowed with the survival instinct is sufficient for this purpose. Education must serve the other purpose. We find the world full of misery, ignorance and loneliness. Our education systmem must address these issues. It should make sure that our young generation does not become the part of the existing miserable situation. They should be trained and taught in such a way that instead of focusing solely on survival needs, they must realize their true potential that include getting rid of all negative forces of misery, ignorance and loneliness. To merely survive in this world may help the other species, but it does not help much to us humans. We need to feel the joy, the serenity and the profound peace the existence offers to us. The ignorance pains us and the loneliness brings misery in our lives. We need to prepare our young generation where they do not need to go through all the terrible sufferings faced by their predecssors. We need to make them aware of the limitations of survival aspect. Merely how to survive is not going to help them in the long run. We need to teach them the nature of thoughts and emotions and how false identities are formed. We need to teach them how not to get trapped by false and prejudiced doctrines and belief system. We need to teach them how to be aware and alert so that no false notion can capture them. We need to teach them the entirety of life. They should not be afraid of exploring life in its totality. We should not prepare them merely to become a cog to run the existing machinery. They are human beings and they must explore what it means to be and to live. Nothing should hinder them in their exploration of life. Their lives should not be sacrificied to any dogmatic tradition or ritual. They should be able to experience joy, live a life full of freedom and peace. Survival needs should by met as a small part of life. Their whole life should not be wasted in the pursuit of earning the livelihood. Inculcating the values of freedom, joy and peace should be the prime concern of our education system. Each and everything should be measured against such values as freedom, joy and peace. What is the use of winning a nobel prize or earning a million dollar cheque if one is not joyful, free and in peace? What is the use of such a life as is lived in comparison to others? The achievements of life should not be measured in grades, wealth and fame. We need to nurture the joyful, peaceful and loving human beings. Our education system must take the daring steps if it desires to serve the true educational needs.
